Several years ago, we decided to focus on homeschoolers. Why? While enjoying and presenting at homeschool conferences, we realized that homeschool parents understood and were open to our innovative approach to helping their children learn to read music.
Parents came to conferences to research the best methods to use to teach their children. With this intent, they often stayed and chatted with us for thirty minutes or more. Then they would go home and discuss MerrieNan Melodies with their spouses. Typically, they often came back on the last day of the conference and bought MNM for their family.
Many wanted their children to learn piano. These parents were used to teaching their children and welcomed MNM’s format of parents-as-teacher. They appreciated the support materials included with the curriculum–the Training Manual and descriptive directions found in the books. Plus, their children loved the MNM Kit and its fun activities!
This sincere interest in their children’s well-being and education plus an openness to something innovative won us over. Our current revision was designed with homeschoolers in mind.
